Wondering how to manage shared expenses with your partner while keeping separate accounts? You are not alone! Today, we’re pleased to bring you the lively interview with Camille, an events project manager who found the ideal solution for herself and her partner thanks to PayTrip. Settle in for her experience, and see how this app transformed the way they manage their shared finances.

Hello Camille, thank you for taking the time to share your experience with PayTrip! Could you introduce yourself and tell us a little about your personal situation?

Camille: Hello Marion! My name is Camille, I’m 32 and I’m an events project manager in Paris. My partner and I have been together for 6 years, and we spent a long time looking for a way to manage our shared expenses — rent, groceries, going out — without ruining ourselves in bank fees. We quickly understood that these money questions could create tension between us: sometimes I forgot to pay my partner back, sometimes I asked him to reimburse me for something I had paid for and that he no longer remembered. The early days were complicated for us on that front!

What obstacles were you running into before you came across PayTrip?

Camille: Before we knew PayTrip, it was a nightmare (laughs)! We tried everything: mobile apps, the services our banks offered. Either the process is too complicated and we regularly forget to reimburse each other, or the customer service isn’t up to it, or the prices are too high.

How did you discover PayTrip, and what convinced you to try it?

Camille: We found PayTrip on Google Play, and what won us over straight away was the promise of free, fee-free transfers between our accounts! We thought it was worth a try, especially after reading positive reviews from other users.

What are the strengths of PayTrip that improved how you manage shared expenses?

Camille: What we love about PayTrip is that we can transfer money instantly between our accounts without spending a cent in bank fees. For example, when we do the shopping, I pay with my PayTrip card and my partner reimburses me immediately in a few clicks. The app also gives us a real-time view of our spending and lets us manage our shared budget more effectively. When we go on holiday, we use only our PayTrip cards for extra security. It saves us the stress when we’re on an outing, for example, and that way we know all our spending is on our PayTrip card statements.

What other advantages have you discovered while using PayTrip?

Camille: One advantage of PayTrip is how simple it is to use. The app is clear and intuitive, and that simplifies managing our budget enormously. Instant transfers also let us react quickly when something unexpected happens, like the time I found myself at the supermarket checkout and realised I didn’t have enough money on my card to pay. My partner sent me an instant transfer and the situation was sorted immediately!

Would you recommend PayTrip to other unmarried couples like you?

Camille: Absolutely! PayTrip has really changed our daily life. We didn’t realise how much a shared budget can poison a couple’s life if you don’t have the right tool.

More concretely, free transfers between our accounts are a real plus. They’ve let us track our spending better and make the most of our budget. I’m convinced other couples could benefit from every advantage the app brings.

To finish, would you have any advice for people who want to manage shared finances with PayTrip?

Camille: If I had one piece of advice for couples in the same situation as us, it would be for each person to open a PayTrip account with a payment card. For us that was the best solution, because it lets us keep a degree of independence while making instant transfers between us whenever it’s needed.

Thank you so much, Camille, for this rewarding story! We wish you all the best with PayTrip, and an ever calmer way of managing your shared expenses.
